El Costumbre app for iPhone and iPad

Lorenzo Armendariz arrived more than thirty years ago to Tenejapa, a Mayan community (Tzeltal) in the highlands of Chiapas. He gradually became involved in the ritual and festive life of this community and has since been conducting a photographic documentation of the ceremonies and the most important characters of Tenejapa: musicians, mayordomos, ensigns and shamans. Alonso López Santiz, prayer of the saints for all his life(NAIL), is one of them.

The Tradition is an audiovisual count, which will increment every four months for two years to have a current approach of ritual and festive Tenejapa cycle.

During this time the photographer again intimately involve with the most important people in the community, through them, and experience, illustrate how Costumbre carried out.

Laden atmospheres copal incense and "interpret" the breath of Saints, intimate rituals, prayers, ceremonial music, festivities and deeply rooted cultural events are what can be found in this app. In addition to the personal testimonies of the author and some anthropologists who have shared the worldview of this Mayan community.
