Lorenzo Armendariz arrived more than thirty years ago to Tenejapa, a Mayan community (Tzeltal) in the highlands of Chiapas. He gradually became involved in the ritual and festive life of this community and has since been conducting a photographic documentation of the ceremonies and the most important characters of Tenejapa: musicians, mayordomos, ensigns and shamans. Alonso López Santiz, prayer of the saints for all his life(NAIL), is one of them.
The Tradition is an audiovisual count, which will increment every four months for two years to have a current approach of ritual and festive Tenejapa cycle.
During this time the photographer again intimately involve with the most important people in the community, through them, and experience, illustrate how Costumbre carried out.
